SA COASTAL CHALLENGE

The Challenge: Run A Smile around the tip of Africa from Oranjemund via Cape Town to Ponte D’ Ora in Mozambique. David once again stepped up to the line again. David couldn’t resist the challenge of running an estimated 3300 km non-stop from Oranjemund in Namibia via Cape Town in South Africa to Ponto d’Oro in Mozambique. Despite the massive physical toll exerted on their bodies in the Great Wall Challenge they started their rehab and preparation in Cape Town under the guidance of the Sports Science Institute having recovered well and were declared medically fit to take on the Coastal Challenge.

After running some 3300 km in 80 days and achieving another world first in 2008 they reached Ponte D’Ora and completed another massive journey. Once again the biggest achievement was not the journey but the 2 million rand that was raised jointly with Spar and the Round Table of South Africa. This once again gave the opportunity through Operation Smile for hundreds to receive corrective surgery and a God given right to a smile.
